The album features two original compositions. Chico O'Farrill's Afro Cuban Jazz Suite, composed during a pivotal moment in jazz history, inspires the Afro Latin Jazz Suite's artistic integrity. The latter suite is not a nostalgic tribute but an embodiment of O'Farrill's values of artistic integrity, curiosity, and risk-taking. Four Questions is another composition inspired by Dr. Cornel West's truth-telling, musically representing DuBois' four questions.
