One of the sacred texts of the 60s Free Jazz movement, sounding as fierce, defiant and bracing as ever. This is not background music and it’s not something you’d play at a cocktail party or during dinner service. It’s not intended to relax you or relieve stress. Not all medicine tastes good going down and many would say that music like this almost defeats the purpose of music itself. But that’s a short-sighted view; this is music with a purpose, and it’s not here to make you feel comfortable or complacent. You could almost call it punk rock in that sense.
